With TIGNUM strategies we encourage you to become aware of what daily habits you can do to impact your vitality and energy and ultimately find ways to implement them! I enjoyed reading about this UK study that even took it a step further. We inherently know that good health behaviors must contribute to feeling good, but it has not been quantitfied which health habits are more likely to offer the best return to add years to your life.
University of Cambridge interviewed 20,000 people and calculated those that adopted four particular health habits added an average of 14 years to their life vs. the folks that didn’t have these habits. The habits that had the most impact were:
– Eating fruits and vegetables. (In the TIGNUM program this is adding nutrient density to the diet)
– Not smoking. Smoking not only has a causal relationship to cancer but also is highly oxidative and supplies the body with a toxic load that disrupts normal cell functioning.
– Exercise regularly. (In the TIGNUM program, this is getting some movement daily)
– Drink alcohol in moderation. (In the TIGNUM program, being mindful of what moderation is and reflecting on how you are using alcohol is important to assess whether it is right for you. Keeping in mind that it is hydration robber and contributes significant calories.)
How are you doing with your health habits, are these ones you have incorporated in your Sustainable High Performer lifestyle? I feel with Tignum strategies not only can I hope to have more years but have each year count as a more vital and energetic one.
